Yes, I'm starting a new blog!

Hi, I’m Katie. Welcome to my blog!

As you may have guessed by the title, I'm not really new to the blogging world. However, it's been a while since I've written a personal blog.

I have always enjoyed processing my thoughts through writing, but oftentimes I’m hesitant to share my writing with others. If I share tips, I'm afraid people will view me as a know-it-all. If I write about my daily life, I worry people will think I'm just another self-obsessed millennial. If I write about my thoughts, I'm afraid that people will reject me or judge every little thing I say.

Basically, I let fear and worry rule my actions.

However, the older I get the more I realize that worrying about what other people think of you really gets in the way of being creative, following what God is asking you to and, let’s face it, just living your life. Recently I have felt an itch for a creative outlet and another way to share my faith, and I knew that a blog was the way to go despite my fears surrounding it.

What is Your Blog Even About?

I have always been pretty “multi-passionate,” a word which here means “a jack of all trades, but a master of none.” I love reading and talking about books, creating intensely detailed travel plans, teaching, playing ukulele, singing, planning elaborate themed parties, painting with watercolors, practicing calligraphy, researching personality types, organizing my house, writing...you get the picture.

Because of all of my varied interests, it’s very hard to follow the advice you hear from “blog experts” to choose a super-specific niche. So I've decided to ignore those experts and write from the heart.

My vision for this blog is that it will be a space for me to share any and all of my passions with those interested in following along. I just didn’t feel comfortable being pigeonholed as a “mom blogger” or a “travel blogger” or a “DIY blogger.” I would rather be free to share anything and everything on my blog!

I plan to write about faith, friendship, marriage, travel tips, home organization, DIY projects, and general thoughts about life.

Choosing a name for a blog is always a painstaking task, but I've happily landed on "La Casa de Katie," a name that reflects my main goal for this blog: to share a peek into my home, my life, and my heart.

I hope that when you land on my page it feels like stepping into the house of a good friend. Welcome!
